I’m excited to announce that later this year I’m traveling to Kenya to train and learn from some of the best middle and long distance runners in the world. Since I began running more seriously two years ago, I’ve been fascinated by Kenyan culture. From the training methods and nutrition to the openness of the athletes and coaches I’ve read about, I’m looking forward to this experience. Sure, I can read about it and watch documentaries. However, there is simply no substitute for being immersed in a country that produces many top-level athletes.
From this experience I hope to better my skills as not only a runner, but a person as well. For me running isn’t necessarily about competition. I’d like to inspire people to not only live healthier lives, but to also realize their dreams and aspirations. I’m a firm believer that running holds a blueprint to improve other aspects of life. If you can train and complete a marathon, you can accomplish anything.
Meanwhile, I will be preparing for shorter races that I have coming up in a few months. My marathon recovery has gone well and I’m excited to gradually build up my training again. I’m looking forward to sharing the knowledge I will gain in Kenya as well as implementing it into a bigger vision of mine. Until then, I’m excited to begin improving this summer!
